Well, as human life has it, unfortunately me, the Keeper of the Grandmother Moon Pipe, was sick at the day of the last ceremony. It was not a matter of not being able to heal or so, no my body had been violently ill and needed rest. Much rest. And that I gave. What does that have to do with the ceremony? Well, as I lay there in bed, with rather high fever, listening to some audio mp3s because I couldn´t sleep somehow, I drifted off. I approached the grandmother moon pipe regarding a specific situation. The distance between me and the pipe itself was only 1 room, but I just couldn´t make it there. I talked to grandmother moon without saying a word, only images passes through my head and suddenly a powerful vision occurred. The pipe came to me. In my mind the ceremony was done in spirit union with the Grandmother moon itself. I was shaken and taken aback when realizing what happened or what can happen, when the mind is strong, even if the body is weak. I had powerful images in my head and they will guide me for life I am sure. And the ceremony was real and worked as I saw everything unfold over the next few days. Maybe it was not necessary to say that, but I just want to make sure, that you understand the power of the pipe. The word itself has so much power, that one should be aware and respectful when saying it.

I do know that the circle was really good and many came. The Grandmother Moon Pipe was brought to the ceremony and smoked by another female pipecarrier this time, so the pipe could do it´s work. I knew it was good as I had consulted the pipe about it before, this is no easy task - to entrust someone with such a sacred spirit as the Pipe. Thank you. I know you will read these words some day.

I do remember this pipe cermony vividly aswell, although it´s been about 2 months now. Many new people came to the ceremony and I think at least some had not experienced a ceremony before. Well, I was so nervous, you wouldn´t believe. I didn´t know what to explain, what to say and such and my daughter was at my side too, and all that didn´t make things easier. But the truth is, the people came for the pipe, for the ceremony and not for me to tell them something about the pipe (well maybe a bit too). But I did learn something: first of all - the pipe will do its work; explanations don´t have to be; and it will all be good. I guess in the years to come, I might come into many situations such as this one, so I better get used to it !

Please bring some food/drinks to share for the feast afterwards. We also ask for a small donation to help us finance the costs of the room rent and such.

In short - don´t forget that if you ask something of the pipe also to be ready to give something beforehand ! Just like you would approach your grandmother and grandfather - respectful - that way should you also approach the pipe.

This time our monthly pipe ceremony had a very special pipe coming, the Grandmother Moon Pipe. It was also a premiere for me, as I am the Keeper of this pipe and I was very nervous. It is something else, if you do ceremony with many during a monthly ceremony, different if you sit alone with the Pipe and something else again when there are many people coming to see the Grandmother Moon Pipe and you have the privilege to be the Keeper of the Pipe that many came to see. I was afraid, but there was no reason to be, as the Pipe does its work completely on its own. I felt a pressure on me, the Keeper of the Pipe, thinking that I have to deliver an absolutely amazing ceremony and this was totally in the wrong place. My lesson was to trust and to step back, because the Pipe does its work on it´s own and I only carry the pipe to the people. We read a story, given to us by Changing Man. Once the grandmother came out, I felt immediately better, for I felt that she was touching the people, I felt her presence and the most amazing moment during the ceremony was for me when we all sat in the circle, I held the pipe in the middle of the circle and we all sang together. I felt unity in the songs, many voices, strong energy. Yes, it was a ceremony to honor the women, we were at the center of it, together with the Grandmother. But, as balance is that which is important to bring into being these days, we ended up talking about men and how it is a big issue for me that there should not only be women´s circles, but also men´s circles. Celebrate that which makes us women women, honor the gift of the grandmothers but also listen to her advice to bring balance. Many of you out there might think that “oh, men dominate everything these days” - as this might seem to be true for some areas of life, in the end it is a matter of your perception and nothing more. Feel strong as a women and you will feel equal to the men. Women and Men each carry special medicine and BOTH of which should be properly honored. Suppression of women is not the way to go just as over-emancipation is not the right way either. Balance needs to be brought to both. Grandmother, may you guide us!

So, better late than never- we’re gearing up for the next Open Pipe ceremony here in Vienna, Austria this upcoming Saturday. This time we have the honor and privelege to be joining together in a circle led by the Grandmother Moon Pipe, and we’ll be particularly focusing on honoring Women, Woman’s Medicine, and the Divine Feminine. For those keeping other Pipes, you can of course bring them, but it would be advised not to take them out of their bundles during the ceremony, due to the unique nature of the Moon Pipe’s Medicine! For any questions, don’t hesitate to ask!

Für alle die, die Pfeifen haben, du kannst die sicher mitnehmen, aber aufgrund der besonders einzigartige Medicine der Mondpfeife, bitte sei bereit die im Bundle zu lassen während die Zeremonie. Für weitere fragen stehen wir gerne zu verfügung!

Yes, it´s been almost a month again…and I try to recollect what we have experienced during our last ceremony. The last pipe ceremony was held in honor of the Thunders, as on this specific day many pipes came together around the globe for the “Welcoming of the Thunders”-Ceremony !!

Oh yes, and they came. On the day of the ceremony itself, a farmers woman at the local market told me that she needed rain so desperately, so that her plants can grow…and that the earth has been rather dried out by the winds.

And the rain…yes, it came !! For all those in Vienna and such, they all know that we had many days of rain and more rain end of march/beginning of april. So…now that the earth is soaked again, the sun can come out and do its work !

So, thanks to a friend of ours who took Jim´s advice to heart :), we came together for a short walk in nature yesterday. We chose Lainzer Tiergarten - a nature preserve, where you frequently see wild boars, wild goats, deer and such roaming around the woods. We went up the small hill by Nikolaitor and then walked over to a very beautiful meadow where we sat down under a tree and just enjoyed pre-spring weather. The sun shone warmly on my back, while from the West strong winds came through. They howled and came with such force, which I have rarely felt up there. I sat and tried to listen to the winds words…
what I heard is that the strong winds come to pick up the old things to make way for the new ones. At one point on the way down I got to watch a really nice view of the wind picking up quite a few old leaves and making them “run” across the earth.
So while we sat under the tree, it was peaceful - at least for me, I didn´t mind the wind, it was refreshing, I felt somewhat like being shaken through by the winds and I enjoyed that. Also, I brought the Grandmother Moon Pipe - she wanted to come! And the friend who initiated the whole walk into nature, her pipe felt the calling for the outdoors too - Wonderful ! Without having talked about it, we both brought the pipes. And also the whole group turned out to be somekind of a Lady´s circle - unintentionally aswell.

All in all, I really enjoyed the outdoors again, I got to feel nature again and saw what is currently happening. The winds, and the boars somewhat wandering at a distance in the woods but still somewhat in a circular motion around us. Oh, and Grandmother Spider paid me a visit too - as soon as I had opened my bundle. I felt good in the group, was relaxed and the time seemed to stand still up there - a wonderful feeling compared to the hustle and bustle one is constantly surrounded by in the city.

So, whoever felt like this could be something that could take place more often :-)… we already talked about a possible “Wandertag”- a day of hiking, when it´s a bit warmer.
